- Taught Ag. at Plant City, 1929-30
- 1930's, most likely continued teaching Vo Ag in Hillsborough County
- 1939 - 1/2 day Pinecrest and 1/2 day at Plant City
- Early 1940's, began full-time at Plant City
- 1944-45, became Vo Ag Supervisor in Hillborough County
- Late 1940's, became Area/District Supervisor of Vo Ag as a State Staff member in the Gainesville area
- Retired in the late 1950's (1958 we think)
- 1972-73, Plant City established the J.G. Smith Chapter (Jr. Chapter)
- Today the J.G. Smith Chapter is a Sr. Chapter
